Lesson: Talking About Family Experiences
Activity 1 – Teacher-led whole class: The teacher asks learners about a shopping experience. The teacher guides with questions: When did you go? Who did you go with? Why did you go? Where did you go? What did you buy? How did you feel?
Activity 2 – Learners respond: Learners take turns to describe their own family shopping or church experience in the Zambian language. The teacher listens and gently corrects pronunciation.
Activity 3 – Syllable awareness: The teacher introduces simple oral words related to the family experience and claps out the syllables. Learners repeat and clap along.
Activity 4 – Tracing: Learners trace simple shapes and patterns in sand or on paper, developing pre-writing control.
Assessment: Observe whether the learner can talk about a family experience and identify syllables in simple oral words.
